With the holidays rapidly approaching, you may be trying to save some money while still showing thoughtfulness. I’m going to share a few of my ideas, and then give you a list of 7 great articles for holiday savings.
- If you have a large group of siblings (or friends), suggest doing a gift exchange where everyone is randomly assigned one person, and set a $25 limit. It forces you to be resourceful.
- Consider chipping in with other siblings when buying gifts for parents.
- Instead of presents, try exchanging donations to charity with someone. My wife and I are going to make a contribution to the Humane Society instead of buying each other gifts.
- Give re-gifting a shot. I’m going to give my nephew a video game I bought about a month ago and still costs around $40 used. Not a bad gift, even if it’s not new. He’ll enjoy it just as much.
- Try to remember the reason for the season
Those are just a few of the things I’m doing this year, but other people have put together some great tips for saving money this holiday season.
