Looking for a Pet? FREE Adoptions Nationwide on January 24th
Thursday, January 15, 2009 20:53 - By The DavidThose of you who read my post on the Importance of Giving know how passionate I am about animals. I’ve have 4 dogs and 2 cats. The dogs are all from the Human Society, while the cats came straight off the streets.
I’d have even more animals if I could, and I’m sure that I will after our latest dog gets acclimated to the pack.

Even though I’m not ready for more yet, I’m hoping I can help other animals find a loving home. If you’ve been thinking about adopting a pet, I’ve got some good news for you. On January 24th, Hill’s Pet Nutrition company is sponsoring “Change a Pet’s Life Day”, and the best part is you can adopt a pet for FREE!
It’s a nationwide program encouraging people to adopt. You can go to one of 300 participating shelters, and pick out the pet you want to take home. Hill’s Pet Nutrition will cover the cost of adoption for the first 10 pets at each shelter.
They’ll also give out a free starter kit to everyone who adopts. It includes their premium Science Diet food, as well as tips and instructions on how to train and care for your new family member.
If you’re interested in adopting, please check out their website to see a complete list of shelters in your area. They even have participating shelters in Alaska, so I’m sure there will be one close to you.
It’s a good deal. Adoption costs vary, but my local Humane Society charges $85-$120 to adopt. It’s always a bargain when you can get something for free, especially when that something will be a loving member of your family for many years.
Not only will you be helping out the pet you bring home, but you’ll be helping overburdened shelters too. Unfortunately, animals are feeling the economic crunch too. Many owners have started to neglect, abandon, or flat out abuse their former pets. Animal shelters try to help as many as they can, but they are already above capacity and over budget. It’s a sad and unfortunate situation.
So use January 24th to Change a Pet’s Life, save some money, and take home a loving friend. I’m sure your new pet will appreciate it. These guys sure did when we brought them home!

Please let me know if you are kind enough to adopt an animal…I’ll buy a finance book of your choice for the first two people that show me proof of their adoption.
