You're spot on - the media doesn't get it and I feel that is because they have a fear of emplying youngsters.

It is just buzzwords! And even worse – you could probably replace “younger investors” with “elderly investors”, and the article would actually make more sense.

I'll keep my money in stocks…I'm in this for the long term.

The way I look at it, the market will eventually rebound. I can't say when, but unless the worldwide economy collapses, then the market will eventually go up at some point.

The way I look at it, I'm buying the same stocks I was before, only they're 40% cheaper now. I know that's oversimplification, but I'm just as confident in my strategy now as I was before the crash.

I'm sure the market probably will slide again, but at least I'll be prepared for it next time.

I was excited when I saw this article too, but it's really not directed at young investors at all, and it's more of the same old crap we've been reading in the media.

Again – like to point out that it's not my tips…they're from Businessweek, and I don't like them either.

I agree that the media doesn't get it. Most posts written for young people seem to concentrate mostly on whatever that person regrets about their own life, rather than solid and useful advice. This particular post seems to be even below that and merely goes through all the current buzzwords. Whatever, I'll keep my heavily international 90% equities portfolio.

Interesting. I have been looking for a good source of investment information over the past little while, and while this covers some interesting ground, it's a bit… rehearsed.

I agree with you David, and have kept investing as the market goes down. Although some will call the notion of the market being “on sale” stupid, I completely disagree. It might not be a good idea if you are in your 60's, but for us young adults, now is the time. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't be shocked at all if the market went through another plunge and rebound again in the next 30-40 years. In either case, I tend to error on the side of risk at my age (29).

Thanks, though I must admit I think it falls a little short for young investors. Rather than being honest and trying to educate us about what the down economy means, it seems to advocate a knee-jerk reaction, which I don't agree with.

Maybe it's better advice for other ages, but younger people should not respond to the crunch by being overly cautious.
